Dr Ranimol Prasanna

Dr Ranimol Prasanna is a Dental Specialist with more than sixteen years of clinical experience and seven years of teaching experience. Dr Rani developed an interest in cancer genetics during her bachelor’s degree (BDS, 2002) program at Government Dental College, Thiruvananthapuram, and continued with her passion during her post-graduation (MDS, 2010) in Oral Medicine and Radiology at the same college. During the course, she specialized in diagnosing and treating potentially malignant, malignant, mucocutaneous lesions and soft and hard tissue tumors as well as in head and neck imaging. She did her PG dissertation at Regional Cancer Center, Trivandrum, where she learned a great deal about cancer biology and molecular techniques. This convinced her to continue in the same field and work on ‘salivary biomarkers’ for her PhD program at the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Kerala. Her post graduate dissertation “Stat-3 and Cyclin D1 expression in oral pre-cancer and cancer” was selected as the best dissertation of the year 2010 by the Indian Academy of Oral Medicine and Radiology. She was awarded the best poster for “Tumor Markers” at the national level. Her publication on ‘oral cancer in young adults’ won the best scientific paper award. She has bagged prizes for scientific presentations at state and national levels. In addition she is the author and contributor to many national and international scientific publications. When not at work Dr Rani enjoys spending time with her family and friends. Being trained in piano during her childhood, she enjoys music during her leisure time. Her other past time include playing table tennis. Her welcoming smile and pleasant nature is a sign of her positive attitude towards life.
